The China Development Bank (CDB) has provided approximately $160 billion in financing support to over 250 projects in 21 countries across Latin America, significantly promoting the economic and social development of Latin American countries, according to a statement from CDB.
Over the years, CDB has deepened financial cooperation between China and the Latin American region. It has led in establishing the first multilateral financial cooperation mechanism between China and Latin America, initiated a special loan fund worth $22.5 billion for China-Latin America and China-Caribbean infrastructure projects, and participated in a $10 billion investment fund to promote China-Latin America productivity cooperation. These measures and actions have supported pragmatic cooperation in fields such as infrastructure, energy, mining, manufacturing, electricity and telecommunication between the two sides.
CDB has also actively organized multilateral and bilateral exchange seminars and established scholarships to support Latin American students studying abroad, promoting mutual understanding and people-to-people connectivity between China and Latin America. (By Li Zi'ang/China Youth Daily)
