As the initiator and correspondent bank, CDB established a syndicated loan totaling 660 million US dollars to support the construction of Cambodia' s new airport in Siem Reap—the Angkor International Airport. The first 60 million US dollars in loan was issued lately.

The Angkor International Airport is an international hub built by the Royal Government of Cambodia and one of the key projects thanks to China-Cambodia capacity cooperation. The Angkor International Airport will be constructed according to 4E standards and may be upgraded to 4F in the future. The construction is scheduled to be completed in March 2023. The project will play a positive role in protecting the historical and cultural relics of Angkor Wat, improving local infrastructure, alleviating the contradiction between airline supply and demand, and promoting the development of the local tourism industry. The Yunnan Branch of CDB and the member banks of the syndicate will provide effective financing and settlement services for the construction of Angkor International Airport into a demonstration project of the "Belt and Road" initiative. For that matter, they plan to provide 300 million US dollars in loans within 2021. Someone from the Cambodian local government said that the Angkor International Airport project will increase Cambodia' s transportation capacity, boost its geographical advantages, and help strengthen economic cooperation in the lower reaches of the Mekong River.

The Yunnan Branch of CDB has been leveraging its advantages in infrastructure construction, medium and long-term investment and financing, and international business to issue a total of near 10 billion US dollars in loans to support Yunnan Province and neighboring countries in conducting international production capacity cooperation, promoting infrastructure connectivity, and boosting Yunnan' s effort to develop as a hub with easy access to South Asia and Southeast Asia.
