As a commercial creditor, the China Development Bank (CDB) has, on a voluntary basis and according to market principles, actively responded to the G20 Debt Service Suspension Initiative (DSSI) and pursued friendly negotiations on arrangements for sovereign loans of commercial nature with relevant countries affected by COVID-19. Since the start of 2021, CDB has provided debt relief worth USD 1.168 billion for DSSI beneficiaries, offering a much-needed break for countries involved to address liquidity risks. With real, concrete actions, CDB contributes actively to poor developing countries’ response to the challenges brought by the pandemic.
