| For many years, the Suzhou River has been a major draining channel
for waste in Shanghai, accounting for 48% of the total pollution of
the Huangpujiang River. This represents a serious threat to the Huangpujiang
River, The primary water supply of Shanghai. Further, the irregular
layout of the land along the river has affected the life of the residents
and held back the viruous development of Shanghai's society and economy.
To
support the economic development of Shanghai and improve the investment
and living environment of the city. CDB has provided RMB 3 billion
to this project to improve the environment of the Suzhou River and
surrounding property.
This project is a systematic and time-consuming environmental project
with significant social impact. The clean water supply and realignment
of the river will provide a more efficient and productive business
environment, and the reclaimed areas along the river will be targeted
for recreational development.
