China–Africa Infrastructure Cooperation Forum Held in Changsha

On September 27, 2021, the China–Africa Infrastructure Cooperation Forum was held in Changsha, Hunan Province. Jointly organized by CDB, the China International Contractors Association, the Export-Import Bank of China and the China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation, the Forum is an important supporting event for the Second China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo.

With the theme “Joining hands to promote new development in China-Africa infrastructure cooperation”, the Forum encouraged all participants to conduct collaborative innovation in investment and financing models, project cooperation, business mix, among others, as part of an effort to accelerate the construction of traditional and new types of infrastructure and achieve sustainable development.

Representatives from Hunan Province, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, and the Ministry of Commerce attended the forum and delivered speeches. Guo Lei, Vice President of Global Finance of CDB, delivered a keynote speech, in which she noted that CDB will give full play to its advantage in planning, and seize new opportunities arising from the in-depth integration of new industries and infrastructure, as it works with international partners to provide tailored financial and expert services to boost the sustainable development of infrastructure in Africa.

Regarding new ideas for infrastructure cooperation with Africa in the new era, representatives of the Export-Import Bank of China, China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation, and China Communications Construction Group claimed that they will join hands to create a new situation of win-win cooperation between China and Africa by promoting the implementation of more high-standard infrastructure projects that improve the people’s livelihood, as part of an effort to fulfill their social responsibilities, and practice the green development philosophy.

The representatives of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, C?te d’Ivoire and other countries and the Permanent Representative of the African Union to China delivered speeches through video, hoping to continue working with China to promote infrastructure cooperation in the fields of transportation, energy and information technology, in order to accelerate the realization of the vision and goals identified in the African Union’s Agenda 2063.

At the Forum, the China-Africa Development Fund, a subsidiary of CDB, signed a memorandum for strategic cooperation with China State Construction International Engineering Corporation and Yunnan Construction and Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd.
