CDB Issues 2 Billion Domestic U.S. Dollar Bonds After Six Years

CDB successfully issued US$2 billion domestic US dollar bonds in the national inter-bank bond market on June 3, 2021. This is the first bond issued by CDB in the domestic US dollar bond market after six years.

It is reported that the bond issued has a maturity of 1 year and a coupon of 0.38%. The issuance was strongly supported by the Central Government Bond Registration and Settlement Co. Ltd. and was actively participated by other underwriters and investors such as Bank of China Limited, China Construction Bank Corporation Limited, China Merchants Bank Corporation Limited, Shanghai Pudong Development Bank Corporation Limited, Bank of Beijing Corporation Limited, Bank of Jiangsu Corporation Limited, Bank of Ningbo Corporation Limited, HSBC Bank (China) Limited, Standard Chartered Bank (China) Limited, etc. This bond issuance not only broadened the foreign currency financing channel of CDB, but also provided domestic institutions with diversified foreign currency investment products, which was warmly welcomed by the market.

The person in charge of CDB's funding department said that over the years, CDB has actively participated in the construction of domestic and foreign currency bond markets, using two resources in both domestic and foreign markets to better serve the development of the real economy with low-cost funds. Going forward, CDB will continue to create new products on the bond market to enrich bond market varieties, and actively promote bond market connectivity and high-quality development.
