CDB Honored with“2016 Special Contribution Award for Corporate Social Responsibility”

The CSR Award Conference 2016, jointly hosted by xinhuanet.com and the Research Center for Corporate Social Responsibility of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, was held in Beijing on December 2, 2016. China Development Bank (CDB) won the “2016 Special Contribution Award for Corporate Social Responsibility” (CSR) due to its remarkable performance in serving China’s national strategies and boosting economic and social development.

According to the organizers, serving as China’s development finance institution, CDB has been devoted to the mission of “enhancing national competitiveness and improving people’s livelihood”. In 2006, CDB became the first Chinese financial institution to join the UN Global Compact. It also participated in the UNEP Finance Initiative and performed CSR as a global corporate citizen. In August 2016, CDB was awarded the title of "Leading Enterprise in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals” (SDGs) by the Global Compact Network China due to its excellent CSR performance.

By following China’s five major development principles, CDB focuses on promoting the supply-side structural reform and further leverages development finance in major areas such as poverty relief, implementation of the "One Belt, One Road” strategy, urban renewal, education loans, energy saving and environmental protection, as well as in solving the “problems facing agriculture, villages and farmers. By doing so, CDB contributes to the full achievement of building a moderately prosperous society in China and China’s sustainable economic and social development.

The CSR Award Conference, launched by xinhuanet.com 9 years ago, is designed to commend individuals and organizations for their outstanding CSR performance. The Conference has received wide recognition in China, playing a significant role in promoting CSR.
